Vladimir Putin held a meeting with heads of defence industry enterprises
The discussion focused on issues concerning the prospects of Russia’s defence industry development, including the supply of essential weapons and equipment.
Since the start of the special military operation the volume of supplies has increased more than 22-fold for missiles and artillery, 15-fold for electronic warfare and reconnaissance systems, and 14-fold for munitions and ordnances.
This is a good pace and a large volume. I would like to thank you and your teams for coping with such large-scale tasks. <...> We must always be one step ahead. Always remain ahead of our adversary, and then victory will be guaranteed.

On building a single defence space
A joint regional group formed by cutting-edge Russian defence complexes and tactical nuclear weapons has been deployed in Belarus. They are there to reliably safeguard the Western borders of our countries and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. We reviewed the way the instructions Mr Lukashenko and I have issued are being implemented in terms of holding simultaneous exercises in Russia and Belarus on using non-strategic nuclear weapons, as we have said in public on May 9.
Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko made media statements following their talks
This is one of the first foreign visits for the President [of Russia] since his election and inauguration and after a new Government was appointed in the Russian Federation. This is the way for us to emphasise the importance Russia attaches to the fraternal ties with our closest neighbour, reliable ally and a genuinely strategic partner.
On developing transport and logistics in Russia and Belarus
I do agree with Mr Lukashenko that logistics and transport are among our major priorities today. What I mean is that we must restore our supply chains and create new ones by working together and assisting each other in order to enable our companies to operate in an uninterrupted and continuous manner, including those focused on the markets of the two countries and third markets willing to work with us. In fact, there are quite many countries of this kind.
Russia-Belarus expanded-format talks
During the restricted-format meeting just a few moments ago, we mentioned the fact that what matters the most for us right now is our ability to identify priority high-technology sectors and help each other develop the relevant competencies. The so-called sanctions have made this matter even more relevant, considering that Russia faces 16,000 sanctions of various kinds, which is more than anyone else. Of course, they do cause certain challenges, as we can see. We can feel their impact, but at the same time they also offer us development opportunities, enabling us to quickly recover the competencies we lost. As for the competencies we never had before, we develop them as the need may be. It goes without saying that working together offers the most effective path to mastering these solutions.
Russia-Belarus restricted-format talks
The agenda of the talks includes topical matters dealing with further expanding the strategic partnership and allied relations between Russia and Belarus, the state and prospects of integration within the Union State, as well as key international matters.
On May 26 and 27, Vladimir Putin will be on a state visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
